Aadhaar is one of the most important identity documents for citizens in India. The Aadhaar card carries important information which includes name, address, photo, biometric data and other details.

Now the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued a warning against sharing any documents for Aadhaar updation over email or WhatsApp.

 

UIDAI, posted on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) altering the users about the fraud. UIDAI posted, “BewareOfFraudsters. UIDAI never asks you to share your POI/ POA documents to update your #Aadhaar over Email or Whatsapp.

Update your Aadhaar either online through #myAadhaarPortal or visit Aadhaar centres near you.”

The government authority has also asked the Aadhaar card holders to visit the UIDAI official website ( http://uidai.gov.in) or download the Aadhaar app to access any kind of information related to Aadhaar updates. Along with this, the Aadhaar card holders can also visit the nearest Aadhaar centre for any updates.

 

How to update Aadhaar online

  • Go to the Aadhaar Self-Service Portal on the UIDAI website.

  • Log in to the portal using your Aadhaar number, Captcha and the One-Time Password (OTP) received on your phone

  • Navigate to the Document Update section and review the existing details to ensure their accuracy.

  • Choose the appropriate document type from the drop-down list and upload scanned copies of the original documents for verification.

  • Make note of the service request number, as it will help you track the progress of your details update process

 

UIDAI has also confirmed that it will never ask for your Aadhaar OTP or mAadhaar Pin. The government body has advised the Aadhaar card holders not to share this sensitive information as well.
