MCCARROLL MIDDLE SCHOOL TO REMAIN CLOSED – Decatur ISD’s McCarroll Middle School will be closed through the Thanksgiving holiday due to Wednesday’s fire. All classes will be asynchronous through that time. “This morning, we had a chance to walk the building with fire investigators. Overall, the building is OK, but cleanup will take some time,” said Roby Nunn, McCarroll Middle School principal. “The classroom where the fire occurred suffered significant damage, and dense smoke infiltrated much of the building.” Nunn said students will be expected to log in for their school assignments and complete work daily. The staff will be using the former Decatur Intermediate School.

https://parentsecurityonline.com/PLAYOFF VOLLEYBALL RESULTS – The Decatur Lady Eagles (28-1, 12-0) claimed a regional quarterfinal victory against Argyle Thursday at Weatherford’s Ninth Grade Center, 25-11, 25-19, 25-17. The Boyd Lady Jackets (27-4, 13-1) also won their regional quarterfinal match against Callisburg in a sweep at Bowie High School, 25-16, 25-18, 25-17.

FOOTBALL RESULTS – The Alvord Bulldogs (5-4, 4-1) claimed a win in a non-district playoff tune-up game against Founders Classical Academy of Lewisville at Bulldog Stadium Thursday, 55-0.

WEEK 11 FOOTBALL MATCHUPS – The Bridgeport Bulls (1-6, 0-3) will look to qualify for the postseason with a win in its District 3-4A Division II finale against Mineral Wells at 7 p.m. at Bull Memorial Stadium. The Paradise Panthers (6-3, 3-3) hope to stay in the hunt for 4-4AI’s fourth seed in a road battle against Ponder at 7:30 p.m. at Ponder Field. The Boyd Yellowjackets (7-2, 4-2) currently hold 4-4AI’s third place, and will close out the season against Bowie at 7:30 p.m. at Yellowjacket Stadium. Decatur, Alvord and Chico are off tonight.

GIRLS BASKETBALL BEGINS – Today is the first day of the varsity girls basketball season. The Decatur Lady Eagles will host Peaster at 6:15 p.m. The Bridgeport Sissies will welcome Aledo at 6:30 p.m. The Paradise Lady Panthers host Grandview at 5:30 p.m. The Slidell Lady Hounds open the season with a home game against Bowie at 5 p.m.

DECATUR SWIRL – Decatur Main Street’s annual Decatur Swirl event is 6-9 p.m. Saturday in downtown Decatur. The event includes wine tastings, shopping, food and live music. Visit decaturswirl.com for tickets and more information.

DECATUR MOBILE FOOD PANTRY – Decatur Cares Mobile Food Pantry is 8-9 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church parking lot. The pantry will use a drive-thru setup. All participants will remain in their cars at all times. You will be directed by volunteers where to pull your car. Volunteers will load the box of food.

SMOKED MEAT SALE – The Knights of Columbus Council 9644 is holding its annual smoked meat sale this month. Turkeys ($40), briskets ($75) and hams ($45) will be available for purchase, and all orders will be ready for pickup at Assumption Church 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 21. Call 940-389-6735 to order.
