“People are desperate financially and they’re scared. So, there’s a lot more fraud from at home work opportunities and financial fraud, and there’s also a lot of fraud in connection with tests or treatments for COVID that people claim work but really don’t,” said The Ascent Personal Finance and Legal Writer Christy Bieber.
Victims between the ages of 30 and 39 report the most fraud while victims between 50 and 59 are scammed the most.
