The Warren police and fire departments will hold an open house on Sunday, Sept. 10 from 12-3 p.m. at police headquarters located at 29900 Civic Center Boulevard.
The family-friendly event will give people the opportunity to interact with first responders and see police and fire vehicles. There will also be several live demonstrations from police K9 units, evidence technicians, HAZ-MAT rescue personnel, and mock vehicle extractions.
Members of the SWAT Team, ATF, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Division, and Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Division will also be on hand to interact with attendees.
“This is an opportunity for citizens to meet with local first responders, ask questions, and learn about the various aspects of the jobs these people do every day,” said Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer. “I know many of our officers look forward to this event every year because it gives them a chance to interact with our residents and has a positive impact on the community.”
Complimentary hot dogs, chips and refreshments will be served and there will be free gun safety locks, child safety ID kits and children’s bicycle helmets provided while supplies last.
“There is always a strong turnout of families at this event and I expect this year will be no different,” Dwyer said.
