
Manistee High School junior Lindsay Lange capped her junior season, and third trip to the Division II state championship track and field meet, with second places in all three of the running events in which she competed Saturday.

MHS track goes to state
Three members of the Manistee High School track teams, two girls and one boy, will be competing at the state championships this weekend. They are: Mary Chmielewski (200 and 400 meter dashes), Wendy Kaap (discus) and Mark Bezjian (100 meter dash).

Washington School wins cup
The annual Traveling Safety Cup award of the Automobile Club of Michigan for 1942-’43 has just been won by Washington School. In addition, the captain of the school safety patrol, Martin Jaratz, has been awarded a $25 War Bond, presentation of which will be made by John Harper, traffic engineer, at 11:15 a.m. on June 4 at the school. The cup presentation will be made early in the next school term.
School picnic planned
Children of the Trinity Lutheran School, First and Division streets, will hold their annual school picnic on June 3 at the Fifth Avenue Beach and shelter house this year because of the transportation problem. The day’s program will begin at 10 a.m. and will include games and entertainment which will be planned by the instructors of the school and will include the use of the many facilities the beach affords.
