The White House announced on Tuesday new plans to expand the preservation of marine areas in the Pacific Ocean in an effort to thwart overfishing and environmental damage. As part of the National Ocean Policy, which President Obama launched in his first term, the unprecedented preservation initiative will create the worldâ€™s largest marine protected area, securing nearly 782,000 square miles.
