Woman’s ‘worst nightmare’ as stranger from dating app she deleted turns up at her work | #tinder | #pof | romancescams | #scams

It’s no secret that dating apps aren’t for everybody, some people just aren’t a fan of meeting a potential love interest that way.

Others would prefer an organic meet cute, while some are concerned about the dangers that come with talking to strangers online.

One woman recently decided that dating apps weren’t for her and deleted the ones that she had on her phone.

Several months later a man from Tinder turned up at the beauty salon she worked at, demanding to know why she had ghosted him – despite her never actually telling him where she worked.

The woman, named Tee Marie, described this situation as her “worst nightmare”.

Writing for MamaMia, she recounted the scary incident, which she claims has had a lasting impact, leaving her scared to drive home in case she was followed.

She said: “A few months ago, I was trying out my luck on dating apps.

“I eventually stopped responding to messages, stopped looking at the apps, and in the end just deleted them altogether.

“Then today, while at my work, I saw a man walk in and out of the salon without calling ahead, a new rule we have in place due to COVID-19.”

The man walked up to her and asked if she was Tee. When she confirmed that it was her, he confessed he’d been trying to get hold of her for ages.

Tee didn’t recognise him at first, but their conversation slowly came back to her.

“I never told this man where I worked,” she said.

“In fact, I explicitly told him that I would NOT tell him, and that it would be my worst nightmare for someone to just show up at my job. I have no idea how he tracked me down, as none of my social media even had any of the same names – first or last.”

The man had shown up hoping for an hour of Tee’s time, wanting to know why she had stopped replying to his messages.

She lied and told him she’d met someone, to which he responded that she should have been upfront about it instead of ghosting him.

Eventually the guy left, but Tee was very shaken up.

“I had never met this man but he felt comfortable and entitled enough to me – a woman he had never met – to show up at my JOB. Demanding my time? Demanding to know if I was lying about meeting someone?

“I walked away hot and sweaty and scared. How did he find me? Why did he show up at my job, out of the blue months later? What was this supposed to accomplish? What if I had gone on a date with him?

“Have I been stalked? Yes… yes I have. This man stalked me.”

She shared the creepy experience on social media and her post went viral, garnering 75,000 shares and 23,000 comments.

Following her post she was contacted by a former homicide/sex crimes detective that now works in stalking and harassment.

He spoke with the other man and explained why turning up at Tee’s work was not ok.

Tee is also pursuing legal action as she feels “women deserve to feel safe and be heard”.
