Vlcsnap 2023 10 24 15h23m52s98WORCESTER COUNTY, Md. – The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office is implementing a new resource on their App.

“We’re starting to see a lot of tips come in,” said Worcester County Sheriff Matt Crisafulli.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office app has a new feature that will help better protect students and staff at the click of a button. “To help us, to be able to get to the bottom of this is to put down what the threat is, if there’s any names involved with the threat, and what school it is,” said Sheriff Crisafulli.

On the Worcester County Sheriff MD app, you can submit tips if you see or know of a threat. The Safe Schools tip function works in connection with Worcester County Public Schools who also want to make sure everyone feels safe in their schools. “All of Worcester County, that’s our number one priority, is keeping our students and our staff safe. We believe that every student and staff member deserves to go home at the end of every school day in the same or better condition than they came,” said Dr. Annette Wallace, Chief Academic and Safety Officer within Worcester County Public Schools.

And if you plan on reporting but may be afraid you are protected. “People that are afraid, or for the children that are afraid you can remain anonymous. Your name is not on there, you just put what puts you in fear,” said Sheriff Crisafulli.

To make sure each incident is handled accurately, officials say to fill out the form with every detail. “To make sure the reports are complete and you can certainly stay anonymous, making sure each portion of that report is complete so that we can collectively work together to investigate things that are brought up,” said Dr. Wallace.

Whether you are sure, or even if you heard something, officials encourage you to report tips regardless. “When in doubt, if you feel there’s a safety or security breach in one of our schools and you have any kind of knowledge about it, make that tip and let us run it down and get to the bottom of it with the public schools so we can ensure the safety of everyone involved,” said Sheriff Crisafulli.

You can download the app on the Apple app store or Google Play store, it’s called Worcester County Sheriff MD.

There is also the MD Safe Schools app that you can also report tips on, which will go to county officials as well.
