YCSO notifies community about Level 3 sex offender | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office (YCSO) has released a notice to the Yuma community regarding a Level 3 sex offender in the area.

YCSO says that Bryan Bernard, 62, advised them that he’s residing in the 960 block of South Palm Avenue in Yuma.

YCSO also says that Bernard is 5’9″ tall, 187 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes, and is not wanted by YCSO at this time.

In a press release, Bernard was arrested twice, once in 1988 and once in 2016:

  • 1988: Bernard pled not contest in the San Juan District Court in Aztec, New Mexico to one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct against an adult woman who didn’t know Bernard. He was sentenced to 1.5 years in the New Mexico Department of Corrections, with one year of parole supervision upon his release.
  • 2016: Bernard pled guilty to two counts of Attempted Sexual Exploitation of a Minor. He was sentenced to 10 years in the Arizona Department of Corrections, with 680 days credit for time served, according to YCSO. After being released from prison, Bernard is currently on Lifetime Intensive Probation under the supervision of the Yuma County Adult Probabtion.

YCSO further said that Bernard is a Level 3 offender, a high risk to reoffend, and that the notice isn’t meant to increase fear. Rather, YCSO believes that an informed community is a safer community.
