
PATHANAMTHITTA: The accused in the incident of hacking his live-in partner to death has been nabbed. The police took into custody Athul Sathyan of Ranni for hacking to death Rejithamol (27), daughter of V A Raju of Cherukol Keekozhur Pullikattilpadi near Malarvadi Junction. Rejitha was staying with him for five years after estranged from her husband.
Athul fled in a bike after committing the crime. He was taken into custody from a vacant house in Ranni Puthusseri Mana. The police said that he has sustained serious injuries. He was subjected to medical examination at Ranni Taluk Hospital and as his injuries are serious, he was shifted to Pathanamthitta General Hospital. Police said that he is an accused in many criminal cases.
The incident happened at 8.30 pm last night. Rejitha reached her own home after a fight with Athul. He entered the house with a knife and hacked her to death. Raju (60), his wife Geetha (51) and youngest daughter Appu (18) sustained hack injuries. They sustained injuries when tried to stop him from attacking them. Though all were taken to Ranni Taluk Hospital, the life of Rejitha could not be saved. The doctors said that Raju needs an emergency operation.
A week ago, Athul had taken Rejitha to a rubber plantation in Pathanapuram and threatened her after keeping a knife on her neck. He had shown the video of it to her mother. Rejitha had lodged a complaint with the police against him and this led him to commit the murder.
