How sharply have cybercrime cases increased?

Police data cited in the report shows a noticeable increase in cybercrime cases registered in Asansol.

In September 2025, five cybercrime cases were registered during the entire month. In September 2026, eight cases had already been registered within the first five days.

The report also said 10 FIRs were registered in five days following complaints received through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and other channels.

Cybercrime cases have remained consistently high over the past several months.

In June 2026, 58 cases were registered, including 34 cases of cheating and 24 other cybercrime cases. In July, 63 cases were registered, including 35 cheating cases and 28 other cybercrime cases.

August recorded 59 cybercrime cases. Of these, 38 were cheating cases and 21 involved other categories of cybercrime.

In September 2026, eight cases were registered within the first five days, including four cheating cases and four other cybercrime cases.

The figures indicate that cyber-related offences have remained a continuing concern in the Asansol area, with cheating accounting for a substantial share of registered cases.
