10-year-old girl beat up by group of kids in Toledo, mother seeks charge | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – A video showing a 10-year-old girl surrounded and beaten by a group of kids she didn’t know is circulating on social media. The girl’s mother is speaking out after the Sunday incident near the Honorable Myron Duhart Park.

The mother went downtown to discuss filing charges against the kids involved. Police are investigating. Kids’ faces in the video have been blurred because they are minors.

The video shows a group of kids surrounding the 10-year-old girl. One of them grabs her by the ponytail, and then they start hitting her.

The girl’s mother did not want to show her face. She said what she saw in the video was disgusting.

“She doesn’t know them and never had an encounter with them. Never seen them before,” the mother said.

The incident happened Sunday near Myron Duhart Park in Toledo, a park where the mother said her kids walk to all the time.

“So, I have 4 kids go to the park that day. My oldest daughter, my middle daughter, and my youngest daughter and my great niece,” the mother said.

“My youngest daughter notifies me that my daughter was getting beat up on,” she said.

The mother is still trying to process what happened.

“I’m very hurt because I couldn’t get to my daughter in time to protect her and to help her out in that situation,” she said.

The mother said her daughter didn’t know the girls in the video, but one of her daughter’s friends does.

The mother filed a police report and notified her daughter’s school principal. Some of the kids involved are believed to attend a charter school; others attend Toledo Public Schools.

Toledo Public Schools said in a statement to 13 Action News: “School administrators are aware, and they are willing to mediate if and where appropriate.”

The mother said she has since received numerous messages about this group of kids.

“People are reaching out, letting me know that they’ve been bullying other kids before. So, I want to put a stop to this because should nobody feel the way that my child feels,” she said.

She wants to see charges filed against the kids and the parents.

“I want the parents to be held accountable for it, and I want the kids also to be held accountable for their actions because you can’t just go around putting your hands on people, especially if they didn’t do nothing to you,” she said.

No charges have been filed in this case yet.
