The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has arrested about 50 Nigerian nationals in a special operation carried out in the early hours of Thursday, July 24, 2025, at McCarthy Hills in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

According to a statement issued on July 24, 2025, and signed by Assistant Commissioner of Immigration, Amoako-Atta, the operation was based on intelligence gathered about the illegal stay of some foreign nationals in the area.

The intelligence also pointed to incidents of human trafficking and cybercrime activities.

Preliminary investigations suggest that some of the individuals had been trafficked into the country and were being coerced into engaging in cyber fraud by their facilitators.
