VCI Global Limited (NASDAQ: VCIG) will launch QuantGold Data, Malaysia’s first sovereign-grade encryption platform aimed at countering AI-powered cyberattacks and enabling ASEAN countries to reclaim data autonomy through hardware-based encrypted infrastructures.
Jane Teh, VCI Global’s Chief AI Security Officer, will announce the platform at the ASEAN AI Summit Malaysia 2025 (AAISM’25), officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Her keynote, titled “Powering Sovereign AI Through Secure Encryption,” will highlight QuantGold’s capabilities as a hardware-level data encryption standard that supports secure data mobility and monetisation.
“The Digital Economy equals the Data Economy. Sovereignty begins with secure control over your storage and computer. We must stop being data exporters and start building a self-sovereign nationwide infrastructure,” said Jane Teh.
QuantGold features a proprietary encryption chip (ISO 15408, EAL 4+), a National AI Data Centre framework and an Encrypted Hardware Ecosystem, enabling nations to operate fully sovereign AI clouds, reduce reliance on foreign hyperscalers and monetise encrypted data without exposing raw content.
With over 129 registered patents, QuantGold aims to position Malaysia and ASEAN at the forefront of the data economy while addressing threats such as digital colonialism, surveillance and AI-driven cybercrimes, which caused an estimated US$9.5 trillion in global damages in 2024, according to Bloomberg.
QuantGold Data addresses three key issues: eliminating cloud dependency by enabling local AI computing and storage under full jurisdiction control; mitigating cyberattack risks through military-grade encryption and air-gapped deployment; and laying the foundation for data monetisation via a secure data exchange platform.
The launch at AAISM’25 represents a significant advancement in Southeast Asia’s AI and cybersecurity landscape, reinforcing efforts to establish trusted data sovereignty for governments, enterprises and citizens in the region.
