Visakhapatnam:The Vizag city police, headed by commissioner of police Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi, and cybercrime wing officials released Rs 48 lakh frozen funds into the accounts cybercrime victims on Tuesday.
The city police chief said they have named some cybercrooks for their involvement in instant loan app frauds and seized some lakhs worth cryptocurrency from their procession. The seized cryptocurrency converted into Indian currency.
The police have identified as many as 100 victims and released `48 lakh to the victims’ accounts by following the legal procedure.
The police appealed to the public not to fall prey to insta loan apps as the cybercrooks have been duping and harassing the people. The police informed people not to get attracted towards loan apps under any circumstances.
The city police had released around `4.6 crore of the frozen funds to over 150 victims in August 2024.
Prakasam cops rescue kidnapped girl within hour
Nellore:Prakasam district police rescued an eight-year-old girl abducted from Racharla mandal on Tuesday, reuniting her with her parents within an hour. The Class IV student of Anumulaveedu High School was lured away by an unidentified man claiming her father wanted to see her. Around 8.30 a.m., she was taken in a car with two men. Her parents lodged a complaint with Racharla police at 10.30 a.m.
District SP A.R. Damodar, personally took charge, forming special teams and alerting neighbouring districts—Kurnool, Kadapa, Palnadu, Bapatla, and Nellore. All border check posts were put on high alert, with every vehicle inspected. The intense checks reportedly panicked the abductors, who abandoned the girl near Peddaraveedu in Devarajugattu before fleeing.
She was safely returned to her parents, who thanked the SP for personally assuring them of her safe return. SP Damodar credited the swift success to timely reporting and urged the public to immediately report suspicious activity involving children.
The incident highlighted the importance of rapid police response and public vigilance in preventing crimes against children.
