HYDERABAD: The cybercrime wing of the Cyberabad police detected seven cases between August 5 and 11, arresting 10 offenders across multiple states in a pan-India sweep. Of the seven cases, five were trading fraud (seven arrests), one smishing (two arrests) and one business fraud (one arrest).
As part of the arrests, the police seized 15 mobile phones, 14 SIM cards, seven debit cards, a PAN card, a cheque book and two proprietorship stamps. Courts also issued 115 refund orders in 20 cases, enabling ₹60,33,819 to be returned to victims, police said in a press release on Wednesday.
Officials advised citizens to be wary of high-return investment/trading offers, urgent demands for money or Aadhaar/bank/OTP details and links on WhatsApp/Telegram/email; verify with concerned institutions, block/report suspicious numbers. Report cyber frauds immediately to 1930 or www.cybercrime.gov.in.
