Rubrik has rolled out a set of managed service provider (MSP)-focused updates across its Rubrik Security Cloud platform and partner programme. They include consumption-based licensing, a new partner tiering model, and a forthcoming designation, Rubrik Verified, positioned as an earned marker of operational maturity for MSPs serving enterprise customers.
The announcements come as competition intensifies for outsourced data protection and cyber recovery services, driven by ransomware, compliance demands, and shortages of specialist staff. Rubrik cited projections that the global MSP market for data protection and cyber recovery services could reach $258 billion by 2027.
The changes span commercial terms, partner requirements, and incident response services, and target MSPs that deliver managed backup, restore, and cyber recovery across customer environments.
Pay-as-you-go
A central update is Rubrik MSP PayGo, a consumption-based licensing model. Rubrik says it removes upfront barriers, starts with zero minimums, and allows MSPs to move to contractual arrangements as usage grows.
Consumption-based pricing is becoming more common across security and infrastructure as customers move away from large upfront commitments. Rubrik included a Gartner quote describing a shift from “capital-heavy deployments to consumption-based models,” arguing that services let organisations scale protection without managing physical capacity.
Rubrik is also introducing a new partner tiering structure to reflect “different levels of commitment and performance standards.” It did not disclose tier names or the criteria that separate them, describing the change as part of a modernised framework built around MSP operating models.
Ransomware support
MSP partners will now get round-the-clock access to Rubrik’s Ransomware Response Team. Rubrik describes it as 24/7 expert support to reinforce incident response during ransomware events.
Many MSPs already run security operations functions or work with incident response partners. Rubrik’s move suggests it wants to play a more direct role in recovery workflows, not just provide backup and restore tooling.
Rubrik also plans to support hybrid tenancy models through its MSP Console, offering unified control with centralised oversight and governance across environments. Hybrid tenancy can mix customer-owned infrastructure with third-party managed services, which can complicate visibility and policy management.
Rubrik Verified
The most prominent addition is Rubrik Verified, an earned designation for MSPs. Rubrik says it will recognise MSPs with “verified operational maturity” and reduce buyer friction during enterprise evaluations.
Rubrik Verified is not yet generally available. Rubrik expects it to launch in Summer 2026, while the new MSP programme capabilities are already live.
Vendor-backed designations have become common in cloud and security channel strategies, where large customers often require evidence of processes and operational readiness. Rubrik is positioning Rubrik Verified as a way to speed procurement for MSPs selling into more regulated or risk-aware enterprise environments.
Rubrik framed the broader shift as a move from periodic engagements to ongoing operational execution. “Cyber resilience has shifted from a model of transactional participation to continuous execution. Enterprises face the challenges of talent scarcity, regulatory requirements, hybrid complexity, and increased accountability, which puts MSPs front and center to meet growing demand,” said Alok Agrawal, chief solutions officer at Rubrik.
Partner reactions
Several partners and alliances highlighted recovery speed and repeatability as key decision points during ransomware incidents.
“Faced with a ransomware event, the ability to quickly execute on restoring from last known good restoration points is the difference between resilience and failure,” said Alvaro Gonzalez, VP of global alliances at Assured Data Protection. “Our ability to deliver a hybrid tenant model, spanning devices that the customer has previously purchased from a VAR and as-a-service offerings from Assured gives customers the options to focus on their critical business outcomes instead of licensing models.”
Harbor Solutions drew a distinction between buying technology and delivering recovery outcomes under pressure. “Cyber resilience isn’t proven by the tools you buy. It’s proven by the outcomes you can deliver under pressure. Customers want recovery that is repeatable, isolated where needed, and runs 24/7 by a team that’s done it before,” said James Harris, CEO of Harbor Solutions.
Rackspace pointed to the partner programme changes as a way to deliver managed recovery services at scale.
“When a ransomware event unfolds, there is no margin for hesitation,” said Mark Martinet, technology senior vice president of strategic alliance partnerships at Rackspace. “The evolution of the Rubrik Transform Partner Program strengthens our ability to deliver operational cyber resilience at scale and ensures our joint offerings provide customers with industry leading recovery capabilities that sustain business continuity.”
Rubrik says the latest additions span programme structure, flexible licensing, incident response reinforcement, and a new operational maturity designation. Rubrik Verified is expected to become available in Summer 2026.
