PRAGMATA is a sci-fi action adventure with its own unique hacking twist, and it’s officially coming to Switch 2 on April 24th, 2026. The game takes place in the near future where humans have developed Lunafilament, a material that can be used to create almost anything, so long as its users have the right data. When communication is lost with the lunar station dedicated to the research and development of this material, a response team is dispatched. However, a massive lunar quake hits soon after their arrival. Hugh Williams – separated from his team, unconscious and badly injured – is discovered by Diana, a mysterious being in the form of a young girl. She is a Pragmata, a unique android created using Lunafilament.
Those who’ve played the PRAGMATA demo know that the game has you bouncing between both hacking and shooting enemies in order to take them out, but apparently the deeper you get into the game, the more you’ll be able to lean into one element specifically. According to a Famitsu interview with PRAGMATA director Yonghee Cho and producer Naoto Oyama, players will be able to upgrade weapons and hacking in order to dish out serious amounts of damage with either, but those who want to take out enemies with a combo of both will still be able to do so. YC: “Depending on how you build your setup, a single hack can sometimes deal more damage than a single shot from a gun, so I think playstyles will vary quite a bit depending on the player.”
NO: “I prefer a hacking-focused approach,” . Since you can deal damage by chaining hacks together, I’ll usually chip away at an enemy’s health using that method. When I want to deal massive damage, I’ll use powerful weapons or use multi-hacks to overload several enemies at once. While I do consider what’s most effective depending on the situation, I tend to rely heavily on hacking.”
YC: “I play Pragmata like an action game and often fight using strategies that emphasize the action mechanics. That said, I sometimes focus on hacking later in the game. By combining hacking techniques, you can use the Multi-Hack ability to put several enemies into a Finishing Blow state. I really enjoy unleashing a barrage of Finishing Blows to take down hordes of enemies.”
