Tech firms crowd into cybersecurity market

Tech companies that do not appear to specialise in security are increasingly exerting influence in the cybersecurity market.

Microsoft and Cisco are known as a software company and a networking company, respectively. But they have long had separate security divisions of substantial size. Recently, other tech companies are also accelerating efforts to target the security market.

Microsoft and Cisco are continuing to expand their security businesses by updating product lineups aimed at AI.

Cloud data platform Databricks has stepped up its push into the security market by launching an AI-based cybersecurity solution, Lakewatch. Lakewatch uses generative AI to automatically organise security alerts by priority and helps experts analyse threats. It is also expected to add automated response capabilities in the future.

Veeam Software, which has focused on data backup, is also moving quickly with the aim of reducing data security risks from the spread of AI. It provides automated data classification and tracking, as well as identity-based governance for AI systems and agents and recovery functions using forensic verification. Cohesity has directly integrated the Sophos malware detection engine into its backup solution. Through this, Cohesity aims to find threats hidden in backup data and prevent reinfection during the recovery process.

Dell Technologies (델 테크놀로지스) introduced new security designs and cyber resilience features designed to respond more effectively to next-generation cyber threats across protection, detection and recovery.

At RSAC2026, a global security event held in San Francisco, U.S., the industry delivered a wave of announcements aimed at AI. Akamai said it will add AI-based features to its Guardicore Segmentation platform and strengthen zero trust security in hybrid and multi-cloud environments. SentinelOne and Snyk each unveiled new tools for AI agent security.

AI and cloud company MegazoneCloud signed an official partnership on strategic cooperation with global cybersecurity company Check Point Software for targeting the AI-native and cloud security markets. SK Shieldus will work with global testing and certification body TUV SUD Korea (TUV SUD 코리아), in cooperation to support OT/ICS security compliance responses for companies expanding overseas. RSUPPORT signed an exclusive distribution agreement in Japan with anti-ransomware specialist EveryZone. Under the deal, RSUPPORT will oversee sales, distribution and marketing of White Defender in Japan.

Check Point Software Technologies introduced a new service, Secure AI Advisory Service, designed to help companies accelerate AI adoption by integrating governance, risk management and compliance from the outset. The National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee will strengthen cooperation with U.S. network and security company Cisco.
