(WGGB/WSHM) – Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell announced a major settlement on Wednesday. The state has reached $515,000 agreement with Comstar, an ambulance billing company.
The settlement stemmed from a March 2022 data breach that exposed sensitive patient information. Hundreds of thousands of Massachusetts and Connecticut residents were potentially affected.
The breach compromised social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial accounts, and medical data. Massachusetts will receive $415,000 from the resolution.
Comstar is also required to implement new security measures and annual assessments to prevent future attacks.
