North Yorkshire Police said Eid Anwar Fathi Najjar, 22, was “a sexual predator and a danger to women” when he was jailed for eight years last month.
York Crown Court heard how he ignored orders from door staff at Vudu to stay away from the woman, who was drunk, and took her off the dance floor at the night venue to Shambles Market.
There he raped her, left her distressed and half naked and returned to Vudu alone.
Najjar of King Street, central York, pleaded guilty to rape and sexual assault.
A member of the public asked the Attorney General to send the case to the Court of Appeal on the grounds the sentence was too lenient. But the Attorney General declined.
York Crown Court heard that because Najjar pleaded guilty during the case, the law says he should receive a 20 per cent reduction in his sentence.
National sentencing guidelines suggested the judge should start by considering a sentence of 10 years for the rape offence before deducting 20 per cent.
York Crown Court heard Najjar, who told police he was originally from Egypt, is likely to be deported when he finishes his sentence.
