[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee] “I will develop KT into a national key telecommunications operator responsible for the present and future of South Korea’s network, and an ‘AX platform company’ leading the artificial intelligence (AI) era.”

Park Yoon-young (박윤영), who has taken over as KT’s new chief, said this in a letter to employees on March 31. Park was appointed as the new CEO at the company’s 44th annual general meeting of shareholders that day.

He stressed that this year will be the starting point for the shift to an AX platform company. He presented two pillars to drive change: “strong fundamentals” and “clear growth”.

KT will work to strengthen its fundamentals by ensuring a reliable network, stable service quality and thorough information security efforts. Park said, “In this area, I will make no compromises and will not spare the necessary investment.”

He said, “We will more closely refine our security governance and operating systems, and recheck IT and network infrastructure from the ground up.” He added, “We will raise stability and efficiency through operating innovation based on AI and cloud-native foundations, and further improve customer-perceived quality.” KT also plans to proactively prepare future technologies such as 6G, satellites, AI-RAN and quantum security.

Clear growth will be based on lifestyle services and tailored AX for industrial sites. Park said, “In the B2C area, we will evolve beyond simple telecommunications into lifestyle AI services that permeate customers’ daily lives.” He added, “Through hyper-personalised services and media and content AX, we will reset the standard for customer experience and strengthen tailored services.”

In the B2B area, it will also strengthen “B2B AX” that practically solves problems at industrial sites such as the public sector, finance and manufacturing. He said he aims to create a business model that takes end-to-end responsibility from consulting to operations, and to expand KT’s internal innovation experience into successful models.

Park also stressed, “In new growth areas such as AIDC, global AX and digital finance platforms, we will foster them into key engines that will lead the future through strategic investment.”

He defined the company’s core value as “KT professionalism.” Park added, “A culture must firmly take root within KT of putting customers first, respecting colleagues, taking responsibility to the end for one’s work, and creating results based on professionalism.”
