JAKARTA – Anthropic accidentally published the Claude interface source code into a regular update. This leak occurred on Tuesday, March 31 in the early hours of local time.
This problem is not due to an attack from an irresponsible party. According to Anthropic’s statement, as reported via 9to5google, this incident occurred due to human error in the release packaging.
The update released around 4am this morning includes a source map file that leads directly to the company’s internal code. The debugging file contains about 512,000 lines of TypeScript code that manages the Claude user interface functions.
Although the data of the chatbot’s core model was not spread, this code package has been widely downloaded and spread on social media. Users are reported to have started trying to rebuild parts of Anthropic’s internal tools for their personal use.

Anthropic confirmed that no sensitive information or customer credentials were exposed in the code leak incident. Currently, Anthropic is implementing strict preventive measures so that similar incidents do not occur again.
To address the very rapid spread of the code, Anthropic has filed DMCA takedown requests in various online repositories. However, many believe that the code blueprint will remain permanently stored on the internet.
This incident is indeed detrimental in terms of the company’s intellectual property. However, the main operations of the Claude service continued normally without security disruptions after the leak occurred.
