ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) should take an active role in tackling cybercrime in the current environment.

He made the remarks during a visit to the building designated for the NCCIA headquarters in Islamabad, where he reviewed arrangements related to the agency’s future operations.

During the visit, the interior minister asked for a comprehensive plan for the upgradation of the building. He also directed that an additional floor be constructed in view of the institution’s expanding requirements.

Naqvi said the NCCIA headquarters would be equipped with modern information technology infrastructure and advanced digital facilities.

The minister’s visit focused on the agency’s institutional needs and the development of its headquarters as authorities move to strengthen its capacity to address cybercrime.

According to the details shared during the visit, the proposed improvements are intended to meet the growing operational demands of the agency. The direction to add a new floor was linked to the organisation’s increasing space and functional requirements.

Naqvi stressed that the NCCIA must play a proactive role in the present era to curb cybercrimes. He also sought a detailed plan to modernise the headquarters building so it can support the agency with updated technological and digital systems.

The planned headquarters, he said, would include modern IT infrastructure as well as advanced digital facilities, underscoring the government’s stated focus on strengthening the agency’s operational framework.
