SooToday has heard from customers with Your Neighbourhood Credit Union who say their accounts were hacked and money was stolen.
In a response to someone on social media, YNCU said the issue has been with the credit union’s Visa Debit cards.
“This was a Visa Debit card fraud attempt primarily affecting members in Sault Ste. Marie and is not related to the credit union’s banking system or online banking.
“The issue has been addressed and additional measures have been put in place,” the credit union said.
“The security of our members’ accounts is our top priority. We continue to monitor closely and work with our partners to protect against unusual activity.
“We encourage customers to review their account activity and contact us if anything looks unfamiliar.
“We will work directly with affected members to review and resolve any concerns.”
