Seniors turn out for second fraud summit | #datingscams #romancescams


The judge talked about the rise of fraud cases in the United States, an uptick his said now totals more than $15 billion in losses during 2025. Crenshaw County Sheriff Terry Mears and Luverne Police Sgt. Earl Thompson relayed facts about local cases of actual fraud crimes and provided prevention tips for seniors to consider.  

Members of the Alabama Securities Commission, Nick Vonderau and Kathy Smyth, discussed crypto schemes and financial exploitation of the elderly. The summit, held March 27 at the Tom Harbin Ag Center, included lunch and a time for attendees to ask questions related to fraud crimes and prevention.
