Intuit’s Tony Gauda on Identity, Trust and Seamless Security

Tony Gauda, vice president and chief architect, cybersecurity, risk and fraud, Intuit

As artificial intelligence accelerates the speed and sophistication of cyberthreats, organizations are under pressure to strengthen fraud prevention without compromising customer experience. Tony Gauda, vice president and chief architect of cybersecurity of risk and fraud at Intuit, said enterprises need to build security systems that are both highly intelligent and largely invisible to users.

Gauda said Intuit’s goal is to create “done-for-you” experiences in which security operates seamlessly in the background. Rather than introducing friction, modern fraud prevention systems rely on continuous monitoring, behavioral analysis and real-time intelligence to detect anomalies before they affect customers.

“We try to make it so that the cybersecurity infrastructure is just pervasive. You don’t even know that it’s there,” Gauda said.

The rise of AI-driven threats has raised the stakes significantly. Gauda said attackers now operate at machine speed, using tools that make it increasingly difficult to distinguish between legitimate and fraudulent activity. This requires organizations to detect and respond to threats faster than ever before, while maintaining trust and usability.

In this video interview with ISMG, Gauda discussed:

  • How to design fraud prevention systems that minimize user friction;
  • The impact of AI on the speed and complexity of financial fraud;
  • Why identity and behavioral data are central to modern security architecture.

Gauda leads cybersecurity, risk and fraud architecture at Intuit where he is responsible for designing systems that protect customers while enabling seamless digital experiences. With experience spanning startups and large-scale enterprises, he focuses on building resilient, data-driven security architectures that balance protection, performance and customer trust. Prior to joining Intuit he led leadership roles at Modern Products, ThinAir, Bitcasa and Mastercard Worldwide.
