According to a Bloomberg report, major Wall Street financial institutions have started to evaluate Anthropic PBC’s Mythos model within their own systems. This follows encouragement from officials in the current Trump administration for banks to utilize the technology to find security weaknesses.

While JPMorgan Chase was the sole bank specifically named in connection with an initiative to test the model, other large firms have also obtained access or anticipate doing so shortly. Goldman Sachs Group, Citigroup, Bank of America, and Morgan Stanley are among those conducting internal tests of the technology.

The development follows a meeting convened by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell with banking executives. During that gathering, leaders were advised to treat the Mythos model seriously and to implement its capabilities for vulnerability detection. Officials did not cite a particular threat to the financial sector but broadly recommended that banks run the model against their own infrastructures to bolster defenses.

The meeting was reportedly organized on short notice to ensure awareness of potential risks associated with Anthropic’s Mythos and comparable models. All banks invited to the discussion are designated as systemically important by regulators, highlighting their critical role in the global financial system.

Anthropic has stated it engaged in talks with US officials about Mythos and its cyber capabilities before the model’s recent launch. The company has initially restricted the release of Mythos to a select group of several dozen firms, including JPMorgan, Amazon, and Apple, as part of an effort known as Project Glasswing.

In its limited release, Anthropic highlighted several security weaknesses that the system could both find and potentially take advantage of during trials. While none of the demonstrated examples were directly tied to financial firms, one test showed the model could compromise a web browser to allow a malicious site to access data from another site, such as a bank’s website.
