Judicial Branch Warns Of Text And Phone Scams Claiming Legal Violations | #datingscams #romancescams

HARTFORD, CT — The Connecticut Judicial Branch is warning residents of two separate scams targeting residents.

The first scam falsely claims that the recipient of a text has received a traffic citation and that the recipient has failed to pay a fine.

In some instances, the name of a Connecticut state court judge is utilized.

The second scam falsely claims that the recipient has failed to appear for jury service and must now pay a penalty.

The text purports to show an actual jury summons, but it is a forgery.

“I want to reemphasize that these are scams perpetuated by people who are trying to steal your money and your personal information,” said Justice Joan K. Alexander, chief court administrator. “Do not respond.”

The Connecticut Judicial Branch does not contact residents by phone or text regarding motor vehicle violations, would not send a text with the name of a judge, or seek a financial penalty for failing to appear for jury service, according to the department.
