‘Damage already done’: Indian-American man wrongly accused of child predator in viral ‘sting operation’ speaks out after police clear him | #childpredator | #kidsaftey | #childsaftey

Akash Singhania, an Indian-American based in California, has broken his silence after being wrongly accused of being a child predator during a livestreamed “sting operation” conducted by YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy.

The incident quickly went viral on social media, leading to widespread harassment and serious damage to his reputation before authorities confirmed he had committed no wrongdoing.

In a statement posted on X, Singhania said the false accusation left his “world turned upside down,” adding that he was subjected to online abuse and personal and professional setbacks as a result of the viral video.

“My world was turned upside down this weekend… This accusation is completely false,” he wrote, describing how he was publicly confronted in a residential area during a livestreamed operation aimed at exposing alleged predators.

According to Singhania, he believed he was communicating with an adult on Snapchat and repeatedly asked for his messages to be verified during the confrontation. He later contacted local police, who arrived at the scene and reviewed the situation. Officers from the Santa Ana Police Department concluded there was no evidence of criminal intent and informed him he had done nothing wrong.

Following public backlash, Vitaly later issued an apology, admitting his team had made a serious mistake. He stated that Singhania had been wrongly identified due to misinterpreted Snapchat messages and urged viewers to delete related clips. The original video has since been removed from all platforms.

Despite being cleared, Singhania said the damage had already been done, citing harassment, reputational harm, and strain on his personal and professional life. He also stressed the importance of due process and verification before public accusations, warning that online mistakes can have lasting real-world consequences.
