Pragmata is not your typical shooter or a game you’d expect from the current Capcom. Here, you’ll play as two characters, Hugh and Diana, as you hack and shoot down a variety of robots and hostile machines with sophisticated systems.
In this IGN guide, we’ll cover important gameplay mechanics, like exactly how hacking works and how to take advantage of it, and other things that the game doesn’t tell you. Check out the following tips for Pragmata and level up your hacking abilities to the top.
7 Things Pragmata Doesn’t Tell You We Wish We Knew
Know Your Weapons
When you first start the game, you’ll have a pistol (Grip Gun) with infinite ammo. After a few battles, you’ll find your first new weapon, the Shockwave Weapon. However, you’ll notice that it has limited uses — once you empty the magazine, the weapon is gone.
This will slightly change when you return to your Shelter and interact with the Unit Printer. By spending Lunafilament (your main currency), you can upgrade your recently found weapon to Level 1, and now you can equip it as your starting loadout before leaving the Shelter. However, if you deplete its ammo, it will be gone, too.
Your Grip Gun, however, isn’t upgraded with Lunafilament: you need to spend Upgrade Components, which you will find across levels.
Fortunately, you’ll find plenty of weapons in every level, so you’ll always have an extra gun. Also, you can increase your weapons levels beyond Level 1, earning new ammo, damage, and/or other special features for them.
Keep in mind, though, that advanced upgrades will require both regular Lunafilament and Pure Lunum, which is more rare to find.
As you make progress in the game, you’ll discover that there are four types of weapons: Attack, Defense, Tactical, and your main gun. You’ll find multiple weapons of each type, including a second main weapon that is better than your starting Gun Grip. Luckily, your upgrades will transfer from the Gun Grip to this new gun, so don’t hesitate to update the pistol!

Hacking Does More Than Expose Weaknesses
Your standard guns are cool, but hacking is your strongest weapon. Apart from exposing enemy weaknesses, you can multiply damage on them, lower their defenses, make them attack other robots, freeze them, increase the damage of the following hacks, and even cripple them for a follow-up critical shot.
A big part of hacking is Nodes. Hacking Nodes are special yellow items that you can pick up (just like weapons), and they will appear on your hacking grid whenever you’re hacking an enemy. If you go through those nodes before completing a hack, a special effect will trigger.
The more Nodes of the same type that you go through, the bigger the effectiveness.
For example, the first Nodes you’ll find are the Decode Nodes (these have a shield and arrows pointing down). They will lower the enemy’s defenses even more when you hack them.
Another Node that you’ll find will let you hack multiple enemies at once, letting you expose more than one robot at a time. You’ll find more and more different Nodes as you make progress in the game, and you should experiment with them every time that you can.
But most importantly: use them! Don’t think of them as unique items with rare drop rates because you’ll find them pretty frequently in most arenas. So give them a try in every battle and see how much easier they make things.
Just like with your weapons, you’ll be able to add Hacking Nodes to your loadout and exit the Shelter always ready. Don’t forget to purchase the first upgrade of any new Node you find to unlock them in your hub.
Create A Hacking Build
Apart from Hacking Nodes, you’ll also find new Hacking Modes. These will change what happens after you hack the enemy and expose their weak spots.
The first Mode you’ll unlock is Offense Mode. With this, the hacking grid will feature offensive nodes that will increase the total damage of your hack if you go through them.
Apart from Hacking Nodes and Modes, there are Mods — we know, they could have selected other terms, but we promise that in practice, they are pretty distinct things. Mods are perks that you can equip before exiting the Shelter, and they will give you a variety of boosts. For example, the first Mods you find will give you extra health, make enemies stay exposed for longer, and increase your damage at certain distances, among many others.
You can equip a limited number of Mods at a time, but you can also upgrade the Mod Slot unit in the Unit Printer and equip a few more. More upgrades will be available as you visit more Sectors.
Mix these three types of items/boosts with how you want to play the game. Do you want to focus on charge weapons? Do you want to deal more damage by hacking? Will you prefer more health or more offensive resources? You’ll find room for experimentation as you play Pragmata.
Complete The Training Simulations As You Unlock Them
Once you unlock Cabin, your friendly Stamp Book robot, you’ll also unlock unique challenges called Training Simulations. Each challenge has three rewards — one for completing the main objective, two more for special objectives. Among the rewards, you’ll find Cabin Coins, Pure Lunum, Upgrade Components, and more.
In essence, you should be completing the Training Simulations as soon as they become available. Their rewards will let you upgrade your equipment, your two characters, and complete your Stamp Boards.
Visit our Training Simulations page for more information about each challenge and its reward.
Stamp Boards are a series of slots with one prize in each slot. Some of them are visible, while others are marked with a question mark. You’ll always get something, such as data, resources, outfits, or even new weapons. To open a slot, you need to spend one Cabin Coin.
Furthermore, you get a bonus drop of Lunafilament every time you get a bingo on your board, as well as the rewards shown above the board. The first reward for your first bingo, and then your third, and then when you blackout the board, which means you fill up every slot.
Sometimes Jumping Is Better
Many enemies are best dodged by jumping rather than boosting to the side. Diana will often let you know which ones by yelling at you to jump. However, these attacks are usually followed by other moves, so you might need to jump or hover and then dash away.
Also, something to keep in mind is that you can dodge while aiming and hacking, but you have to stop aiming down sights and hacking in order to jump. Get in the rhythm of letting go before needing to jump, and then re-aim in the air to auto hover.
You Can Return To Previously Explored Sectors
In Pragmata, levels are called Sectors, and each one of them has Blocks. Blocks contain collectibles of many types, and you can always check if you have collected everything in a specific Block or Sector by opening your map and checking the checklist and percentage.
The thing is, you won’t be able to 100% every Sector in your first visit, because there will be sections where you need to have a certain ability that you’ll unlock much later in the game. Fortunately, you can revisit *every Sector in the game whenever you want. You just need to go to the Shelter, enter the Tram, and select your destination.
If you want to first focus on the story and then find every collectible, you will be able to, so don’t worry about anything that you might leave behind. It will be waiting for you!
Don’t forget to unlock the enhanced Scan ability, which will let Diana mark every valuable item or chest around her.
