Specialised Security Services (SSS) has identified a concerning increase in road spiking incidents across South Africa, particularly on major transport routes and in high-risk zones.

Intelligence gathered through investigations and incident reports confirms that these attacks are deliberate,

coordinated, and linked to violent crimes such as hijacking and armed robbery.

The South African Police Service continues to warn motorists to remain vigilant,

as criminals refine methods to force vehicles to stop and create controlled ambush situations.

Criminals rely on panic, confusion, and forced compliance.

By refusing to stop and by creating distance from the attack point, you break the ambush cycle and

significantly reduce your risk of becoming a victim.

Every motorist must internalise this response and be prepared to act decisively.
