Communities unite for child safety at courthouse events | Illinois | #childsafety | #kids | #chldern | #parents | #schoolsafey

HARRISBURG, Ill. (WSIL) — The Egyptian Health Department, in partnership with CASA of Saline County, is hosting its annual “Hands Around the Courthouse” events in both Saline and Gallatin counties. The gatherings aim to raise awareness about child abuse prevention while bringing together local leaders, professionals, and residents in a visible show of support for children and families.

The Saline County event will take place on Tuesday, April 21, at noon at the courthouse in Harrisburg. The program is expected to draw a wide range of participants, including students from East Side Elementary School, local officials, and child welfare advocates. Among those scheduled to attend are State Senator Dale Fowler, representatives from the office of State Representative Patrick Windhorst, and Judge Gott, along with numerous professionals working in child welfare agencies.

A similar event will follow in Gallatin County on Thursday, April 23, also at noon, at the courthouse in Shawneetown. While the format will mirror the Saline County gathering, organizers note that this event will feature a different lineup of speakers and will not include student participation.

Both events are part of ongoing efforts during Child Abuse Prevention initiatives to emphasize the role communities play in safeguarding children. Organizers encourage residents to attend, stand together, and demonstrate a shared commitment to ensuring safe and supportive environments for all children.
