Messaging app Signal has come under the scanner as German officials alleged that Moscow-backed groups carried out phishing attacks on politicians using the end-to-end encrypted messaging platform.
The hackers, per the AFP report, were not looking to target the app’s security system or encryption but instead impersonated Signal support, or sent false alerts and invites to deceive users.
