WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Florida officials are set to discuss a multi-day undercover investigation that was focused on child predators. 

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a total of 19 suspects were arrested in “Operation Child Protector VIII.” 16 of those suspects are charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, and three were charged with human trafficking for offering to pay to have sex with a child. 

Officials say the oldest suspect that was arrested is 68 years old and “well-known” in Polk County due to his occupation and public appearances. 

Investigators from several police departments, sheriff’s offices and the Florida Department of Financial Services Criminal Investigations Division were involved in the operation.
