LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Fayette County Public Schools’ Family and Community Engagement team is set to hold a community meeting to address student and school safety.
The meeting, entitled “Commodore Community Conversation: Building Trust & Belonging Together,” will be held at Tates Creek Middle School on Thursday, May 21, at 6 p.m.
The event is meant to provide a safe space to have conversations with families and students in response to incidents on campus.
In April, a student had brought a handgun to Tates Creek Middle School. FCPS said the student did not intend to use the handgun on school grounds, and that it was never displayed or used to threaten anyone.
Those who attend the meeting will be automatically entered into raffle for a brand-new tablet or season tickets to the Lexington Legends home games over the summer.
