PEORIA (25News Now) -A longtime Peoria referee, who was arrested on multiple alleged sex crimes against minors, will remain behind bars ahead of trial.
Kevin Armstrong, 61, appeared before Associate Judge David Brown, who granted the prosecution’s detention motion.
Armstrong was arrested last week after authorities said a middle school student came forward alleging ongoing sexual abuse by Armstrong.
Another minor alleged inappropriate touching from Armstrong over the course of years.
Detectives are said to have found evidence relating to both allegations after conducting a search on his house.
Armstrong is charged with one count of predatory sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault. As Class X felonies, he faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life in prison if convicted.
Armstrong’s arraignment is scheduled for June 4.
