San Diego County sheriff’s deputies were searching for a man suspected of sexually battering a 10-year-old girl in Poway over the weekend.
The assault was reported at 7 p.m. Saturday near the 13400 block of Midland Road in the City of Poway, according to the SDSO.
The girl’s friend was with her at the time and screamed for the unknown man to stop, according to deputies. The suspect then stopped and fled the scene on an electric scooter, deputies told NBC 7 on Monday.
Sheriff’s ASTREA, K9, and deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. Child Abuse Unit Detectives took over the investigation and completed a search of the area. On Monday, NBC 7 was told that the CAU was not aware of any other victims.
The Sheriff’s Department released a more detailed description late Monday. The suspect was described as a male approximately 30-40 years old with a medium build and complexion. He stands about 5’10”, has black shaved hair with a receding hairline, a large nose, acne scars, unshaven, and bushy eyebrows, SDSO said. He was last seen wearing black sunglasses, a grey colored hooded sweatshirt, and black shorts.
A sketch of the suspect was also released late Monday.
