ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) – A man will need to undergo surgical castration after pleading guilty to crimes against children, prosecutors said.
The man, Douglas Decuir, 44, entered a guilty plea on two counts of second-degree rape, two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile, and two counts of pornography involving juveniles with a victim under the age of 13.
According to the office of 23rd Judicial District Attorney Ricky Babin, the charges stemmed from a 2021 investigation by the Gonzales Police Department.
Prosecutors said that during the investigation, a person provided police with information that indicated two girls had been sexually assaulted. After gathering evidence, authorities got an arrest warrant for Decuir and took him into custody, according to DA Babin’s office.
In addition to the surgical castration, Decuir will need to spend 30 years behind bars with credit for time served. He will also need to register and notify as a sex offender or child predator for life.
Assistant District Attorneys Lana Chaney and Adam Koenig prosecuted the case.
