Kiteworks Introduces Innovators in AI Program to Close the AI Governance Gap at Gartner SRM 2026 #AI

Kiteworks Secure MCP Server, ABAC policy controls, and full-fidelity AI audit trails available to customers free of charge, deployable in days

Kiteworks, a provider enabling organizations to manage risk across every send, share, receive, and use of private data, today announced its Innovators in AI Program. The initiative is designed to help enterprises rapidly address AI data governance and risk management challenges as agentic AI adoption accelerates across industries.

The program provides organizations with a streamlined path to implement the Kiteworks Secure MCP Server, attribute-based access control (ABAC) policy enforcement, and comprehensive audit and telemetry capabilities across AI agent environments. These controls can be deployed in a matter of days, eliminating the need for extended procurement cycles, complex custom integrations, or costly retrofitting of existing systems.

Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit 2026, taking place June 1–3 at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, Maryland, will serve as the official launch venue for the program. During the event, Chief Strategy Officer Tim Freestone will present a featured session titled “Kiteworks: Controlling Data Access and Use by AI Agents for Compliant AI” on Monday, June 1 at 3:15 p.m.

Governance gap widens as AI agent adoption accelerates

Enterprise adoption of AI agents continues to outpace governance readiness. Industry research indicates that nearly all organizations now include agentic AI in their 2026 roadmaps, yet most lack the ability to enforce purpose-based constraints on AI agents, deactivate non-compliant behaviors, or produce unified audit trails aligned with modern regulatory requirements.

The expanding use of autonomous agents introduces new challenges for security teams, particularly as these systems increasingly access, move, and process regulated data across compliance boundaries. Traditional security architectures were not designed to govern autonomous decision-making at the data interaction layer, creating a growing compliance gap.

“Securing the model is not the same as governing the data — and regulators regulate data, not models,” said Tim Freestone, Chief Strategy Officer at Kiteworks. “HIPAA does not exempt PHI accessed by an AI agent. CMMC does not distinguish between a human analyst and an autonomous workflow touching CUI. The compliance obligation is identical regardless of who or what touched the data. The Innovators in AI Program gives enterprises moving fastest on AI — whether they are scaling on Kiteworks today or coming to the platform for the first time — a fast, deployable path to Compliant AI, with the data-layer governance, policy enforcement, and audit infrastructure they need before agent deployments outrun their compliance posture.”

Core capabilities of the Innovators in AI Program

The Innovators in AI Program introduces three primary capabilities designed to govern AI agent interactions with regulated data:

  • Kiteworks Secure MCP Server. Enables governed access between AI agents and enterprise data. AI assistants and agents—including Claude, Copilot, Agentforce, GPT-4o, and any MCP-compatible platform—connect through an authenticated, policy-enforced data access layer.
  • Policy Controls. Implements attribute-based access control across every AI agent action and payload. Enforcement occurs at the data layer, independent of the model, prompt, or trigger initiating the request.
  • Audit and Telemetry. Delivers full-fidelity, real-time logging of every agent action, prompt, and payload. Logs are tamper-evident, exportable, and suitable for audit and compliance validation.

These capabilities are unified within the Kiteworks control plane, providing security and compliance teams with consolidated visibility into both human and AI-driven activity. The dashboard includes user and agent-type segmentation, global geographic monitoring of data access events, real-time enforcement metrics (allowed, blocked, and pending actions), anomaly detection, and detailed audit logs with policy attribution, file classification tags, and outcome status.

Drill-down functionality enables security teams to trace blocked actions to specific users, agents, and files—delivering audit-ready evidence in hours rather than weeks, supporting increasingly stringent regulatory expectations.

Program structure and availability

The Innovators in AI Program runs on a 12-month model designed to reduce adoption friction for AI governance initiatives.

Phase 1 (months 1–6) includes unlimited AI agent workflows with full access to the Kiteworks Secure MCP Server and policy controls at no cost for Kiteworks customers. Phase 2 (months 7–12) is optional and extends access at 50% of standard rates, with no renewal obligation.

The program structure is intended to eliminate procurement barriers that often delay enterprise AI governance deployments, enabling organizations to implement controls before scaling agent usage.

“The enterprises that put governance infrastructure in place before scaling AI deployment avoid the costly retrofit,” Freestone added. “You cannot audit an AI interaction after the fact. You either captured it or you didn’t. The Innovators in AI Program is built for the enterprises that recognize that and want to move now.”

Gartner SRM 2026 presence

At Gartner SRM, Kiteworks will host multiple engagement points, including Freestone’s featured speaking session on June 1, booth 203 with live demonstrations throughout the event, and a private Executive Suite at the Gaylord National Resort. The suite will be open Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., offering executive briefings and hands-on program walkthroughs.

Availability

Existing Kiteworks customers can activate the Innovators in AI Program through their Customer Success Manager. Organizations not currently on the platform can request a demo at www.kiteworks.com/demo to explore onboarding and program participation.
