BRADENTON, Fla. (WWSB) – Bradenton police are warning teens and parents after the department said it became aware of the “teen takeover” trend on social media.

In a community safety message, police said they want students to enjoy summer break. But they also issued a warning: criminal activity, reckless behavior and disruptions to businesses, parks, the Riverwalk or traffic will not be tolerated.

The department encouraged teens to make smart decisions.

Police also asked parents to talk with their teens, know their plans and stay involved.

“See something, say something — and stay out of trouble,” the department said.

The message did not identify a specific incident, planned gathering, arrest or threat.
