Illinois bill to regulate how kids use social media

A bill to regulate how kids use social media is on Gov. JB Pritzker’s desk.

The Children’s Social Media Safety Act (House Bill 5511) intends to prevent anyone younger than 18 from being exposed to harmful content and addictive features. The bill would require social media companies to confirm a user’s age. It wouldn’t prevent kids from using social media apps but would give parents more control of the content they see.
