SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) – A registered sex offender in Live Oak has been arrested after allegedly talking to underage girls through social media and online gaming platforms, according to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office.
Donald Ray King, 47, is charged with failure to register an internet identifier as a sexual offender and violation of probation.
The investigation started after the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a parent who said her nine year old daughter was in a Snapchat group chat with King. The parent learned King was a registered sex offender and alerted law enforcement, according to SCSO.
Investigators learned King was allegedly talking with juvenile girls through Snapchat and the online gaming platform, Roblox.
SCSO said screenshots found during the investigation showed King had video chatted with young girls and tried to add at least one outside of a group chat setting.

The investigation revealed King had not reported his Snapchat account to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which is required by law for registered sex offenders.
King was arrested on Wednesday, according to SCSO.
Records show King was released from prison in March after serving more than 16 years for convictions involving unlawful sexual activity with minors and child abuse. At the time of his arrest, King was under active supervision by the Florida Department of Corrections.
The sheriff’s office reminded parents to routinely check their children’s online safety and talk to them about online interactions.
