HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (WSMV) – Police have an urgent message for parents in Christian County, Kentucky.
Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby is asking parents to make sure they know what their kids are posting online because investigators are taking all threats seriously, and they plan to discuss the issue of threats with local prosecutors.
Police are also exploring whether additional charges could be pursued in certain situations involving juvenile offenders
For context, parents in Kentucky can already face legal consequences for certain crimes involving minors. But criminal liability for parents whose children commit crimes can be limited in some cases.
Newby’s comment came less than a week after a juvenile was charged with the murder of 19-year-old Jordan Jones, who was shot in late May on Walnut Street.
He said that the case remains under investigation and that a second person has been charged in the same case.
