The Singappen Special Force, a special police unit constituted to prevent crimes against women and children and to enhance their safety, was launched here on Wednesday (June 10, 2026).
Superintendent of Police D.V. Kiran Shruthi flagged off the district unit at the District Police Office. She said a dedicated vehicle had been allotted to the special force and that its personnel would undertake daily patrols across the district, particularly in areas frequented by women, and around schools and colleges.
The SP said members of the force would respond promptly to information relating to offences against women and children, and take necessary action. The unit was formed to strengthen measures for the safety and protection of women and children in the district, she added.
