Google filed a federal lawsuit accusing a China-based cybercrime group of using artificial intelligence to scam Americans.
The company said the group, known as “Outsider Enterprise,” used a phishing kit that illegally mimicked hundreds of trusted websites. Google also accused the group of giving users step-by-step instructions for using AI tools, including Google’s Gemini, to build their own phishing sites.
Google said it was also working with the FBI and major wireless carriers to shut the network down.
