Hacking Group Claims Data Theft at Novo Nordisk | #hacking | #cybersecurity | #infosec | #comptia | #pentest | #hacker

The cyber-extortion group FulcrumSec claims to have stolen over one terabyte of data from Novo Nordisk after spending more than two months inside the company’s network, Reuters reports.

According to the group, the compromised material includes source code, information on both launched and unreleased drugs, clinical trial data, and personal details regarding employees, physicians, and patients. The group asserts that Novo Nordisk rejected a $25m ransom demand and that it is now considering selling portions of the information.

The website DataBreaches.net reported on June 15 that FulcrumSec claimed to have gained access to Novo Nordisk’s network in March, sharing correspondence purportedly showing a list of over 700,000 files, equivalent to approximately 1.3 terabytes of data. FulcrumSec also states that this attack is separate from another breach previously reported by the security site VX-Underground.

Novo Nordisk confirmed a cybersecurity incident earlier in June that granted unauthorized access to a limited number of internal IT systems, but the company has not commented on the specific claims made by FulcrumSec. Reuters has been unable to verify the authenticity of the data the group claims to have stolen.
