SACRAMENTO, California — The Board of Parole Hearings rescinded the grant of parole for Gregory Vogelsang Friday.
Vogelsang, 57, was sentenced to prison for almost 30 counts of kidnapping and sex crimes against multiple children between the ages of 5 and 11 in the 1990s, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office. He was sentenced to 355 years to life in prison.
After previously being found unfit for release in 2022 and 2024, according to Senator Roger Niello (R-Fair Oaks), he was granted preliminary elder parole in November 2025. The elderly parole program makes inmates eligible for parole if they are 50 or older and have served 20 consecutive years.
“Several months ago, child sex molester Gregory Vogelsang was granted elderly parole after serving only a fraction of his sentence. Today, that decision was rescinded!” said Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho. “I want to personally thank our community for the overwhelming response to our call to action – hundreds of community members showed up, emailed, and called the Board of Parole in opposition of release — they put people before predators, public safety above politics and children before criminals who preyed upon the most vulnerable. We will continue to fight his early release back into our community. Additionally, we are working with Assemblywoman Stephanie Nguyen to pass Assembly Bill 2727, to help us prevent child predators from getting released.”
Vogelsang will have another suitability hearing in 120 days.
