Expanding to local universities beyond the metropolitan area
Providing 75-hour online practice and mentoring
Fostering practical cybersecurity talents from 30 people last year to 200 this year
Cisco will join hands with the Ministry of Science and ICT to train cybersecurity practitioners. The first virtual internship program, which started with 30 people last year, will be expanded to 200 people in the second period this year, helping the government’s “Cybersecurity 100,000 Talent Training” policy.
Cisco announced on the 29th that it will run the “Cisco Virtual Internship Program (VIP) 2026” until the 31st of next month with the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This program will be conducted for 200 university students who participate in government information protection professionals training projects such as information protection specialized universities and K-shield junior programs. The program, which had about 30 people last year, was expanded to 200 people.
Cisco will expand security internship opportunities concentrated in the metropolitan area to local base university students. Last year, online and offline education was conducted simultaneously, but this year, it will be conducted 100% online. In other words, it supports global-level education and practice without place restrictions. Participants will complete a total of 75 hours of online training through the Cisco Networking Academy, Cisco’s social contribution education program.
The curriculum consisted of a global security standard curriculum, including endpoint security, cyber threat management, and network defense. It will design virtual networks using Cisco’s network simulation tool, “Packet Tracer,” and conduct training to respond to security vulnerabilities.
They also strengthened their hands-on experience. After the end of the training, participants will compete for security capabilities by participating in the “Capture the Flag” competition based on what they learned during the internship period. If you complete all the programs, you can also receive an official certificate jointly certified by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Cisco.
Mentoring by domestic and foreign security experts was also prepared. Cisco’s global threat intelligence organization “Talos” and customer experience organization experts introduce the latest security technology trends and conduct career counseling.
Cisco produced more than 83,000 graduates in Korea as of last year through its networking academy. Globally, 28.3 million people have completed the program.
