A ransomware group has leaked iPhone 18 Pro supply chain data, including supplier mappings and prototype images, on the dark web after it breached the internal network of Tata Electronics.

Last month, a threat actor claimed that they breached Tata Electronics’ internal network and stole over 630 GB of confidential data, comprising more than 204,300 files. The threat actor later put up the stolen data for sale.

Tata Electronics is an Indian technology company that has been assembling iPhones in the country after acquiring the India operations of Taiwanese contract manufacturer Wistron, a long-time Apple supplier. Tata Electronics has also acquired a 60% stake in the Indian unit of Pegatron, another major manufacturing partner of Apple.

A review of a sample of the files by TechCrunch identified what appear to be Apple supplier specifications and Tesla manufacturing documents, though the authenticity, origin, and completeness of the data could not be independently confirmed.

Acknowledging the threat actor’s claims, a company spokesperson confirmed a data incident, stating that the breach was detected on some of its systems “a few weeks ago” and that response protocols were activated immediately, adding that it had “no impact on our operations across businesses, which remain unaffected.”

Recently, Reuters reported that sensitive lists of components and suppliers, as well as images of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models, were found in files posted on the dark web by the threat actor who allegedly infiltrated Tata Electronics’ internal network.

New documents reviewed by Reuters indicate at least six files outlining how numerous iPhone 18 Pro components are linked to their respective suppliers. These files reportedly include information on chips used in the main circuit board, as well as battery and camera components.

According to a person familiar with the matter, Apple views this information as highly sensitive and is concerned about it appearing on the dark web, as it pertains to unreleased products. The data reportedly links suppliers to specific iPhone components—details Apple does not disclose in its public supplier database — and covers hundreds of parts used in the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models.

The records also reveal where Apple sources certain components from multiple suppliers and where it depends on only a limited number, highlighting both its negotiating strength and potential supply chain risks.
